
Affordability is on everyone’s mind, and some leaders in Atlanta want to eliminate the state income tax as a way to increase take-home pay.
That sounds good. But…
We have to ask: how do we fund services such as schools, public safety, healthcare, roads, and veteran support? In states without income tax, everyone pays the same higher sales taxes, property taxes, and fees — but that just shifts the burden for these things to families and retirees.
We can grow Georgia’s economy without doing that. Let’s focus on common ground: protecting the benefits our veterans have earned, strengthening public schools, supporting responsible economic growth, and protecting the land and water that make our communities strong.
