I am a Democratic candidate running for Johnson County Supervisor to bring a new perspective and believe that my unique experience can help:
- shape a more inclusive economic development plan
- improve affordable housing for all
- create more equitable access to connectivity
- guide the county's Resilience and COVID-19 Recovery Plan
As a small business owner and racial equity organizer, I have a passion for creating more inclusive economic development opportunities and enhancing the sustainability and resilience of Johnson County. In 2021, I was awarded the American Planning Association’s Iowa Chapter Environmental Planning Award for my resilience work in Johnson County.
I am a leader in the community and have served and continue to serve on several Boards and Commissions, such as the Iowa City Housing and Community Development Commission (Chair, 2020), Iowa City Area Business, Johnson County Affordable Housing Coalition (Vice President), and the Iowa Chapter of the American Planning Association’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee (Co-chair). I am also an Adjunct Instructor in Global Health Studies at the University of Iowa.
