Elise Fox for SC House 81

Goal thermometer

Elise Bickford Fox is pleased to announce her candidacy for South Carolina House District 81 on the Democratic ticket for the 2018 election cycle. Dr. Fox is an Aiken native. She attended East Aiken Elementary, Kennedy Middle and South Aiken High Schools. She holds degrees in Chemistry and Materials from the College of Charleston and Pennsylvania State University. She is a second generation National Laboratory employee and has studied renewable energy for the past fifteen years.

She felt compelled to run for SC House District 81 in order to make a positive change regarding stagnant wages, roads and bridges rated “D” or below, and an educational system that has become the worst in the country. “I firmly believe that education is the key to everything. When we properly educate our children, they grow into adults with the skills and abilities to attract high wage earning jobs. Without skilled workers, we cannot attract the advanced manufacturing industry. South Carolina will be left behind. This begins in preschool and continues throughout K-12. Right now, the South Carolina Public School System is funded at $500 below the state constitutional mandate, which has limited our ability to recruit and retain teachers. It has limited school districts’ ability to adequately educate the children in our state. I want to change that. Our people are capable of amazing, wonderful things, but they need the opportunity that others have in order to demonstrate that.”
