For the past few months I’ve been organizing with IfNotNow - a millennial movement of young American Jews committed to ending the American Jewish community’s support for the occupation of Palestinian territories. IfNotNow is grounded in the belief that the liberation of Jews is bound up with other oppressed groups, both in Israel/Palestine and the United States.
In the wake of the election of Donald Trump, our work has never been more urgent. In this moment, we are calling on the American Jewish establishment to stop its silence and come out against Donald Trump's appointment of Stephen Bannon as Chief Strategist.
Here's some of our work:
We took over Trump’s transition office in DC.
We kept Stephen Bannon from speaking at the ZOA—and called out the ZOA’s racist fear-mongering and support of the occupation.
We rallied outside of Breitbart HQ and said no to white supremacy.
When major Jewish organizations held a Hanukkah party at Trump Hotel in Washington DC, we took to the streets to be the public, moral leadership our community needs.
We are reigniting the #JewishResistance, and this is only the beginning.
Over the next few months, we will continue to build the #JewishResistance by mobilizing locally and across the nation. We want to train hundreds more people as members of IfNotNow, bring thousands more into the streets, and make the connection in our community between the moral bankruptcy of our institutions and the pro-Israel-at-any-cost politics that reigns in the American Jewish establishment.
However, we can’t make any of this happen without financial support. Any donation you can give directly supports the work of IfNotNow! Thank you in advance for your generosity and support :)
Love, Eliza
