Republicans think they work for Governor Reynolds - not Iowans. That's why they just passed legislation to change our AEAs with only Republican support.
Iowans did not ask for this legislation. But Governor Reynolds has spent the last month hauling legislators into her office and berating them until they agree to vote with her because she wants more control over Iowa education.
Children with disabilities depend on AEAs to provide them with the support they need to be successful in their everyday lives. Our kids aren't a line item on a budget. They're the future of Iowa, and we're doing them an injustice by dismantling AEAs.
But Governor Reynolds wants a bill - and Republicans think they work for her, not Iowans. That's why we've got to elect more Democrats to the state legislature.
We have great candidates across the state, but they need a strong IDP to turn out voters, hold Republicans accountable, and provide the best tools and data if they are going to win. Can you chip in $5, $20, $50, or whatever you can to bring change to Des Moines?
