Homeplace (A Site of Resistance)

"When people no longer have the space to construct homeplace, we cannot build a meaningful community of resistance." - bell hooks

Homeplace definition: a space built by and for minoritized people, free from the oppressive logics dominating our culture. It is a space to unlearn internalized hatred, foster spirit with others, and resist the oppressive ideologies that shape every aspect of our lives.

Community work is most powerful when it's funded by the community. ARISE's Homeplace project is a radical reimagining of how change can be made: not funded by corporations, but by and for our community. Your monthly contributions allow us to fund the stipends, meals, and transport for our youth activists (all of whom are BIPOC students between the ages of 12 and 18) so that they can afford to do the work they love.

Grant funding is rarely available for work that isn't "exciting": the costs of weekly paychecks, maintenance, etc.

In addition, these contributions sustain the more "radical" of our campaigns, especially Counselors Not Cops, which are often too "controversial" to gain grants for.

Become a monthly sustainer today – any and all amounts are crucial lifeblood to this work.
