Hello friends,
I am running to keep my seat on the Board of Education for the City of St. Louis.
In my first term, SLPS has gone through so many swift transitions; I am excited about the team we have now, as we pursue the unchanging goal of what is best for kids. As the district enacts its Future Ready plan, more change must happen so we can get all the things to all the kids, starting with literacy and ending with the graduation of students prepared to meet the challenges of this changing world. I’m running again to provide stability and continuity for the board, to ensure we keep the Future Ready promises we make, and to continue to advocate for access and equity for all SLPS students.
A St. Louis resident and SLPS parent for over a decade now, I’m a pastor’s wife, a mother of four amazing children, and a PhD student at SLU studying Educational Policy & Equity, with a graduate assistantship covering research, teaching, and service. I’m honored to serve on the board of PSRSSTL, the retirement system for SLPS employees. I’ve been a sociology professor, a writer (occasionally published), and I serve in my church’s children’s ministry. I love plants, birds and babies, as well as crocheting, cooking, and reading–for fun and for school.
I appreciate your support! With your financial support, I plan to have new yard signs, updated literature, some media ad buys, and possibly t-shirts. If you have old yard signs, feel free to put them back out; if you have time to knock on doors, let me know. I also gladly accept prayers and thoughts and vibes.
