New York is facing a once in a generation crisis. From Rochester to Maspeth, working-class people are struggling to find work, avoid eviction, and stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. All while the ultra-wealthy and big corporations continue to make record profit.
On top of our public health crisis, our state is now facing an almost $60 billion budget deficit over the next four years. But rather than tax the rich - Governor Cuomo plans to slash our state’s safety net and basic public services.
Cutting funding to our hospitals, schools and subways won’t get us out of this crisis, it will only sink us deeper into it. This moment calls for a bold alternative: one that puts people over the profits of the ultra-wealthy. That’s why we’re working with our coalition partners on a statewide campaign to demand our leaders do what is right to save our state.
We won’t accept anything less than a state budget that taxes the rich to close the budget gap and put our state on a path to economic prosperity!
