Serving District 15 in the South Dakota Legislature has been the honor of my life and career. But the work isn't done.
That's why I'm running to become the next State Senator for District 15.
In my first year of service, I’ve worked hard to protect our educational system, defend the vulnerable, secure vital healthcare funding for every South Dakotan, and put forward real solutions to issues that have been ignored for too long.
Together, we've accomplished so much so far. Here's just a few wins from the first year:
• Prime-sponsored three new laws expanding access to free birth certificates and non-driver IDs for homeless youth and reconnecting South Dakotans with their unclaimed property.
• Led and won policy battles that protected SDPB, the South Dakota State Library, and Veterans Service Officers from harmful cuts and dismantled costly school voucher schemes.
• Served as a key architect for South Dakota’s first Unclaimed Property Trust Fund to guarantee access to lost property while funding state government responsibly.
• Earned the respect of colleagues on both sides of the aisle as a trusted voice on issues ranging from sexual assault kit funding to maternal mortality to social safety net programs.
That's just one year! As one of the most productive legislators in South Dakota, there's so much more to accomplish for you. And I'm ready to serve.
Every day, I work hard, work smart, and work together to make life better for our district and our state. And I'll continue to do so as I seek election to the State Senate.
Let's build communities and create opportunities for every South Dakotan.
In service,
Representative Erik Muckey
