Iowa's Democratic roots run deep. They just need water.
In 2008, Barack Obama won Iowa by nearly ten points. As recently as 2016, Democrats held a majority in the Iowa State Senate. In 2024, 21 Iowa state legislative districts had no Democrat on the ballot.
In 2026, nine people decided to start changing that.
They filed to run in districts that went completely uncontested last cycle. First In Line is making sure they don't do it alone.
First In Line funds the candidates doing the hardest work in the hardest places. By running, they're giving voters a choice, holding extremists accountable, and rebuilding Iowa's Democratic infrastructure from the ground up.
Our goal is $2,500 per candidate – enough for yard signs, postcards, and gas money – basics that make the difference between a real campaign and just a name on a ballot.
We fund in rounds: uncontested districts first, then Solid R, Likely R, and Lean R. Once a round hits its goal, the next opens. A candidate not listed may not yet qualify for this round, may still have a primary, or may not have an ActBlue page set up.
