First In Line: Minnesota

Minnesota's state legislature is tied – with Democrats holding a one-seat edge in the State Senate while the State House is split 67-67.

And this year there are high-stakes statewide races – with the governorship and both US Senate seats open.

That's why we're excited that this year there are four Democrats running in districts that were uncontested last cycle. Research shows that going from an uncontested race to a contested one leads to a 1.5% vote share increase for the top of the ticket. These four candidates aren't just boosting their own campaigns – they're bringing everyone else along.

First In Line funds these candidates – people who are giving voters a choice, forcing Republicans to spend money they thought they'd save, and turning out voters that lift the entire ticket.

Our goal is $2,500 per candidate – enough for yard signs, postcards, and gas money – basics that make the difference between a real campaign and just a name on a ballot.

In a legislature this close, in a state with such high-stakes statewide races, no district should go uncontested. And no candidate should go unfunded.
