Alderman Stephanie D. Coleman, a lifelong 16th Ward resident, is the daughter of retired Alderman Shirley A. Coleman and Pastor David Coleman. Her parents instilled in her the value of education; the importance of working hard; and the responsibility to helping others.
Alderman Coleman got her start in politics from her mother, former Alderman Shirley Coleman, where she learned the importance of making concerns of her constituents of the utmost importance. In 2019 the age of 30, Alderman Coleman became the youngest member of the Chicago City Council.
Alderman Coleman has a passion for service and is actively involved in issues concerning youth and young adults, which includes education, the achievement gap, public safety, and economic growth. Stephanie wants to inspire the future leaders of tomorrow by showing them that with hard work and dedication, you can achieve anything in life to make a difference in the community.
