Prime Big Deal Days is Amazon's 48-hour shopping event, taking place on October 6 and 7. As it does during other sale events, Amazon will work its workers to the bone while customers benefit from discounts — and Amazon grows its profits.
Amazon workers have to work at a brutal pace, in grueling conditions, to get millions of items shipped in time. That's why it's critically important for workers to unionize.
But Amazon doesn't want unionized workers. The company has paid millions to union-busting law firms and still refuses to bargain a contract with Staten Island workers who won a union election in 2022.
Folks who order from Amazon don't realize that their orders are packed by workers whose every single move is tracked. Workers who are toiling in overheated Amazon warehouses, where they're twice as likely to be injured than in other companies' warehouses. Some Amazon workers have even died on the job.
Amazon workers are dedicated to their jobs, and they deserve to have safe working conditions and fair wages.
So, if you're shopping on Amazon during October's Prime Big Deal Days, we don't blame you. But, please, do keep the workers in mind.
Even $1 counts. If you can chip in just $15, the cost of an Amazon one-month Prime membership, it'll go a long way towards helping Amazon workers fight for a safe workplace.
Our movement, Fight Amazon Fight Oligarchy (FAFO), is everyday people taking action to hold Amazon accountable for the effects of its corporate greed.
Amazon has deep pockets — it's the richest company on Earth. But Amazon workers have something more powerful. They've got people like you, who won't let a discount be used to justify workers dying on the job.
