Born and raised in Englewood on Chicago’s South Side, Willie Preston’s journey is rooted in resilience and community. From mopping hospital floors as a union janitor, to mastering the trades as a carpenter, to launching a construction firm that created jobs for his neighbors, Willie has lived the fight for working families.


Now, as State Senator and Chairman of the Illinois Senate Black Caucus, he has delivered results by expanding maternal health care, creating pathways to union jobs, and banning harmful food additives. A husband and father of six, he is ready to take that fight to Congress.
