Jail deaths. Assaults. Self-dealing. A federal consent decree. People abandoned during Hurricane Katrina. Sheriff Marlin Gusman has been an embarrassment for too long.


New Orleans is poised for a transformation in our justice system. Sheriff Gusman is the biggest remaining barrier. This fall, New Orleans voters will have an opportunity to change that.
