Winning the seat recently vacated by George Santos will shrink the Republican majority in the house by one seat, making it even more difficult for them to govern without compromising with the Democrats.
The special election for the seat vacated by George Santos is February 13, 2024.
There is no primary. The Democratic party selected their candidate, Tom Suozzi who is the former incumbent (2016,2018, 2020). Suozzi's background includes being Nassau County Executive and Mayor of Glen Cove. He previously won his House seat by double digits.
He is likely to be the Dem candidate for the general election in November also.
There are more registered Democrats than Republicans in NY 03, but also many non-affiliated.
This race is a Toss-Up. The Biden Margin is 8.5.
