Figures, an attorney who served in the White House and the Department of Justice under President Obama and Attorney General Garland, is the Democratic nominee for the newly created AL 02 district. The district was formed according to a court approved map drawn by a “special master” last October after much resistance.
It had been assumed to be safely Democratic and is rated Likely D. However, the seat is now considered vulnerable because of low fundraising against a Republican self-funder. The district's population is extremely low income and the campaign needs funds from outside.
