This is one of the handful of races that will determine which party controls the majority in the Senate next term.
Rep. Gallego is running for the Senate seat currently held by Kyrsten Sinema, who recently left the Democratic Party to become an independent. He is running against MAGA Republican and election denier Kari Lake who narrowly lost the Gubernatorial race in 2022. Sen. Sinema has not yet announced whether she will run for another term as an Independent.
Arizona is a true battleground state which Joe Biden won by 0.3% in 2020, and Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs won by 0.7% in 2022.
