The newly redistricted 4th Congressional District in NY is one Biden/Harris would have won handily in 2020. It is currently represented by a first term Republican who narrowly defeated Gillen in 2022. The race is considered a toss up.
Challenger Laura Gillen was the first Democrat elected as Hempstead Town Supervisor in 112 years. In this role, she has led efforts to revitalize infrastructure, address contamination in the Town’s water supply, and worked to pass local legislation relating to sexual harassment and veterans’ benefits.
A Georgetown University trained lawyer, she is a lifelong health care and AIDS volunteer.
