Winning a Democratic House majority in 2026 is NOT a foregone conclusion.

Heading into the 2024 elections, Democrats needed to gain four seats to earn a House majority. Democrats across the country thought winning the House was a foregone conclusion.

What happened?

Democrats flipped nine seats and Republicans flipped eight; Democrats are still down by three seats.

Of the nine seats Democrats won:

  • Three resulted from favorable redistricting; these members won with healthy margins.
  • The other six were hard-fought races with margins under 3%; these six new members are our most vulnerable—they are the GOP’s top targets.

JFW Fund is a Joint Fundraising Agreement which supports the six most vulnerable Democratic House members—those who flipped their districts with margins under 3%:

Congresswoman Janelle Bynum

Flipped OR-5 with a 2.73% margin (10,945 votes)

Congresswoman Laura Gillen

Flipped NY-4 with a 2.29% margin (8,603 votes)

Congressman Adam Gray

Flipped CA-13 with a 0.09% margin (187 votes)

Congressman Josh Riley

Flipped NY-19 with a 2.21% margin (8,357 votes)

Congressman Derek Tran

Flipped CA-45 with a 0.21% margin (653 votes)

Congressman George Whitesides

Flipped CA-27 with a 2.66% margin (7,990 votes)

In order to win the House in 2026, we must defend our most vulnerable seats and flip three seats.

The 2026 Senate map does not present many Democratic pickup opportunities.

If we want guardrails in 2026, the only option is the House!
