FP Action Network: Gabe Amo (RI-01)

Rep. Gabe Amo is the son of West African immigrants, a former White House aide, and the first Black American to represent Rhode Island in Congress. Gabe grew up in Pawtucket and graduated from Wheaton College, where he earned a Truman Scholarship, before completing a Marshall Scholarship at Oxford. He spent more than a decade in public service, working in the Obama White House and later serving as Governor Gina Raimondo's director of public engagement before returning to the Biden administration as the President's principal liaison to mayors and local elected officials. After his election to Congress in 2023, Gabe joined the House Foreign Affairs Committee where he focuses on strengthening alliances with the U.K. and Australia, protecting foreign aid, and advancing U.S. national security.
