FP Action Network: Luke Bronin (CT-01)

Luke Bronin is a former two-term Mayor of Hartford, a U.S. Navy Reserve intelligence officer, and a former senior Obama administration national security official. A Rhodes Scholar with a BA and JD from Yale, Bronin deployed to Afghanistan in 2010–2011 with the military's anti-corruption task force. At the Treasury Department, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes, where he led the team that designed and implemented the secondary sanctions program that helped drive the Iranian regime to the negotiating table. As Mayor of Hartford from 2016 to 2024, he led the city through a severe fiscal crisis, secured a restructuring of city debt with state support, and drove record investments in housing. Now, Bronin is challenging 14-term incumbent Rep. John Larson in Connecticut's 1st Congressional District, running to bring new energy and hands-on executive experience to Washington.
