Gerry Connolly was first elected to Congress in 2008, returning to the Hill after previously serving as a senior staff member on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee earlier in his career. In the 118th Congress, Gerry serves as a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and as a senior member of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability. He also serves as the President of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Parliamentary Assembly (having previously served from 2020-2022) and is co-chair of several caucuses for U.S. bilateral relations. Throughout his Congressional service, Gerry has been a leading voice on foreign assistance, democracy promotion, and the role of diplomacy and development to address security challenges and complement U.S. military operations.
