FP Action Network: Ruben Gallego (AZ-Sen)

Rep. Ruben Gallego was first elected to Congress in 2014 after serving four years in the Arizona House of Representatives. Previously, Ruben served as an enlisted infantryman in the United States Marines from 2002 to 2006, including a 2005 deployment to Iraq. He later served as Chief of Staff for a Phoenix City Councilmember and as Vice Chair of the Arizona Democratic Party. In the 118th Congress, Ruben serves on the Armed Services Committee, where he is the highest-ranking Latino member. Throughout his tenure, Ruben been a powerful leader on a variety of national security issues, including creating, authorizing, and sustaining the Baltic Security Initiative, which provides critical assistance to some of NATO's most vulnerable members and works to deter Russian aggression in Europe. Ruben has also been on the forefront of efforts to pass comprehensive immigration reform that would increase funding to secure the border and create new pathways to citizenship.
