Lauren Underwood was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018, becoming the first woman, person of color, and millennial to represent IL-14. Prior to her election, Lauren was appointed by President Obama to serve as Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In the 118th Congress, Lauren sits on the House Appropriations Committee and serves on the Homeland Security Subcommittee and the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Subcommittee. She is a dedicated advocate for prioritizing global public health, enacting meaningful immigration reform, and protecting our democracy.
