Framingham voters have the opportunity in the November election to approve a ballot question that will allow the city to adopt the Community Preservation Act (CPA). For a small property tax surcharge that will cost a majority of residential owners less than $50 a year, up to $2 million could be raised annually, including a 20% state match.
These funds will be used for preserving open space, completing outdoor recreation and historic preservation projects, and creating community housing, all things that will improve the quality of life in Framingham. It’s time to join the other 176 cities and town and Massachusetts who have already adopted the CPA since 2001 and raised over $2.3 billion for community preservation efforts and received a total of $670 million in state matching funds. Please vote YES for the CPA in Framingham.
