This November, the Freedom to Marry initiative will be on the ballot. Voters will be able to codify the fundamental right to marry, regardless of gender or ethnicity. Although marriage equality has been legalized across the United States, California’s constitution still says that same-sex couples are not allowed to marry. This ballot measure will ensure our state constitution is updated to reflect current laws and ensure California remains committed to protecting civil rights for all its citizens.
