For almost 10 months Senators Burr, Rubio, Ayotte, Blunt, and Toomey have abdicated their duty as US Senators by blocking the Supreme Court nomination of Hon. Merrick Garland in unprecedented manner. They have discounted the bipartisan praise Senator Orrin Hatch and others bestow upon Judge Garland, dismissed the judgment of a majority of your constituents who support a vote, and flagrantly violated our Constitution. No nominee in over 150 years has waited longer for a Senate hearing.
The 2016 election has highlighted that they and candidates they support including Donald Trump all have woefully forsaken compromise and bipartisanship. Their actions invite the strongest possible rebuke: That independent-minded voters like me give our money, votes, and energy to achieve victories by Deborah Ross, Patrick Murphy, Maggie Hassan, Jason Kander, and Katie McGinty over those 5 senators.
