Kyle Rieman is a lifelong Missourian with a passion for public policy that started early. As a 9-year-old, Kyle successfully campaigned for a new indoor playground in his hometown, Warsaw, MO. After completing his studies in Economics and Sociology, Kyle took a position with the Missouri Secretary of State, where he contributed in a number of areas, from auditing county use of election funds to overseeing the state’s initiative petition process.
Later, as a budget analyst for Governor Jay Nixon, and then for the Missouri House of Representatives, Kyle directed the budgets for the Department of Corrections, the Public Defender, the Judiciary, and the Office of Administration. Ultimately, his success as a budget analyst earned him a promotion to the Director of the Joint Committee on Legislative Research, where he led a team of 15 and was responsible for estimating the financial impact of legislation. Finally, Kyle returned to his home of Columbia after over a decade to overhaul the City’s budget processes and increase transparency.
With over a decade of experience in budget issues at the state and local levels, a lifelong passion for public policy, and a love of mid-Missouri, Kyle is ready to be the next Boone County Auditor.
