Education
Honoring the teaching profession and support personnel with appreciation and good funding is fundamental. Proper certification, qualification, commitment, proven and consistent curriculum, discipline, attendance, mutual regard and respect in the classroom are central to academic success.
Health & Well Being
We have increased funding for mental health services and worked to expand mental health facilities. We have helped facilitate the licensing of a nurse training facility. More good doctors, nurses and medical professionals are needed. Telemedicine bridges the gap for many Oklahomans. Coordinated communication, education, early patient access, affordable healthcare and medical technology provide for more healthy minds and bodies.
Economic Development
Legislative funding via incentives, federal and state grants spurs Oklahoma’s economic engine. Aiding the establishment and renewal of various businesses and licenses, including nursing and mail shipping facilities is on-going. Diverse and equitable economic development remains a priority.
Housing
Repurposing vacant facilities to house persons experiencing homelessness, partnering with centers dedicated to providing shelter and permanent placement is on-going. We successfully worked with the US Housing and Urban Development office and Ok Legal Aide to renovate a senior citizen’s housing complex and correct violations of the American Disability Act. We protect and support our senior citizens. Housing security is a challenge being addressed today.
Criminal Justice
Persons receiving life sentences are rightfully free and death sentences have been lifted due to the diligent seeking of justice. We have initiated and passed into law the banning of shackles on incarcerated women during child delivery. Voter eligibility reform for persons convicted of a felony is now law due to our efforts. More bills have been offered related to law enforcement reform, police transparency, accountability and abuse of force. The elimination of fees and fines leading to more jail time, body cams, banning choke holds and addressing the inequities of qualified immunity are some of our many on-going initiatives.
