Robin is running for reelection to the Brighton Town Board in 2021, and needs your help to continue the work she began in her first term. Her accomplishments in the first term include:

• Spearheaded the creation of the Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Advisory (IDEA) Committee;
• Enacted Community Choice Aggregation (CCA), which enables the Town to procure 100% renewable electricity on behalf of its residents at 77% lower rates than the New York State average;
• A local law that prohibits housing discrimination based on source of income;
• A local law that requires disciplinary actions within the Brighton Police Department to be approved by the Town Board;
• Coordinating with stakeholders to develop a letter in support of carbon pricing at the federal level and investment in infrastructure to ensure immediate and equitable action to address the climate crisis.
• A local law that requires contractors to have Renovations, Repair or Painting (RRP) lead certification when applying for certain building permits where lead may be disturbed, which was recognized with an award at the Annual Meeting of the Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning.
• Collaborating with the Director of the Native American Cultural Center to develop a territorial acknowledgment to recognize the historical and ongoing contributions of Native Americans to stewardship of the land encompassed by the Town of Brighton.

Today, we are faced with more challenging times than any in recent memory.

• The summer of 2020 bore witness to the largest mobilization of a civil rights movement in 50 years, as the deaths of George Floyd nationally and Daniel Prude locally sparked protests all across Monroe County.
• The COVID-19 pandemic is ravaging Brighton and Monroe County, inflicting long-term health consequences on some of those who are fortunate enough to survive the disease.
• The attendant economic crisis has caused widespread job loss and threatens an historic displacement of Americans from their homes in the middle of winter.

Local governments are constrained in the ways they can respond to these crises, but Robin is committed to continuing to work with partners in county, state, and federal governments to ensure that Brighton not only weathers these crises, but more importantly, paves the way to a brighter future for our entire community.
