Your donation will support items that EJP's grants don't fully cover, such as scholarships for formerly incarcerated individuals, distribution of reentry guides, and our Emergency Grant fund.
The Emergency Grants are our current fundraising target. The grants support EJP alumni who encounter unanticipated financial needs (e.g., medical bills, car repairs). Starting in fall 2024, we expanded the applicant pool to anyone who participated in a higher education in prison program in the Illinois Department of Corrections and who is within six months of their release from prison.
Individuals with a criminal record often experience hardship in accessing any sort of public aid. That's why efforts like this are so important. 100% funds collected (aside from ActBlue's modest fee) will go directly to the emergency stipends. EJP will take no overhead.
