Stand with me...Today, I am pleased to announce my decision to run for the District of Columbia State Board of Education, Ward 8 member. This decision was not easy, but the state of education in Ward 8 requires a representative who is prepared to meet and tackle the challenges we face.Since becoming your ANC commissioner, over five years ago, education has always been at the forefront of my agenda. I have been able to establish working relationships with teachers, principals, and parents to create pathways to improving education for our children.Improving education is more than implementing common core standards, it is about educating families, whole communities and neighborhoods. It's about connecting our children to the internet to meet the challenges of the 21st century. For our children to win the future, we will have to build learning academies that educate and enrich our parents to further support themselves and their children educationally. My decision to run is about expanding that opportunity to as many families as possible through expanded adult-learning and vocational training opportunities. Focusing on small businesses and entrepreneurship will build a new generation of leaders and residents commited to improving the quality of education for all of our children. The conversation is just beginning, but I need your support in this campaign. Can I count on you to donate today.
