The Undercurrent, a grassroots political reporting web-show sponsored by American Family Voices, was founded in 2012 by Lauren Windsor, who has been AFV's executive director since 2014. Over the years, The Undercurrent has broken many major news stories, most notably on Justice Samuel Alito's ideological outlook and his wife's deep affinity for flags, Trump coup attorney Cleta Mitchell's voter suppression tactics, Sen. Tommy Tuberville's efforts to challenge the Electoral College, and exclusive audio from the Koch brothers' 2014 summer donor retreat.

Lauren has appeared on ABC, CNN, MSNBC, and NewsNation. Her coverage has been featured on numerous local and national digital, broadcast, and cable outlets, including ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NewsNation, Fox News, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Politico, USA Today, Vanity Fair, The Daily Beast, and many others. Donald Trump tweeted her stories and Laura Ingraham called her "a vile woman." You can find clips at www.theundercurrent.tv.

Lauren has been traveling across America to expose election deniers and other threats to democracy since the Jan 6 insurrection, and is producing the documentary Gonzo for Democracy, out this fall, to chronicle that work and release new scoops. Please donate today to support our ongoing field reporting and to help us finish the film.
