We are writing today to ask for your support of and help with the school district’s upcoming Mill Levy Override campaign. While the Board of Education has not formally voted to put this issue on the ballot, members are supportive of the idea and we believe they will approve it. The likely date of a formal Board vote is August 26. In the meantime, it is urgent to get the campaign organized, and we need your help!
The MLO will raise additional, unrestricted, recurring revenue for the school district--which we desperately need right now to take care of our staff and our district, and sustain excellent services to students. While the Board will determine the exact uses it wants in the ballot language, staff recruitment and retention through adequate compensation is a top priority, as well as deferred maintenance. The amount the Board is considering would likely cost a homeowner with a home valued at $500,000 about $120 per year (or about $10 a month).
