Guachinangos Academy
We launched Guachinangos Youth Music Academy in June 2023 with support from Enterprise Foundation, Wawa Foundation, and Bartol Foundation. Through this program, we taught weekly Mexican folk and Latin Fusion music classes to five youth from the Juntos community. Each Tuesday during the summer, they learned guitar, percussion, and violin and jammed together at the end of each class.
The initial funding for this program has ended, but we want to continue the classes! Our goal is to finance two more months of classes, culminating in our youth participants playing in public, on stage at the Dia de Muertos event at Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia in late October (additional details forthcoming).
