Our Central Labor Council has grown tremendously in the past few years--representing nearly 40 affiliate Local Unions and 20,000 working families--and is dedicated to a singular vision: a Middle Tennessee that works for working families. We’ve partnered with the Building Trades unions to improve safety conditions and secure more ethical contracting on construction projects, with local elected officials to work for more transparency on TIF deals and to secure cost-of-living raises for school bus drivers, with United Campus Workers to fight against outsourcing of public jobs, with community organizations to push for Community Benefits Agreements on public projects, and with the TN AFL-CIO, Workers Dignity, and Middle Tennessee Jobs with Justice to host the first ever downtown Labor Day Parade and Celebration to raise the visibility of worker organizing and give back to our members.
