As a parent of two daughters and a son who attend Pittsburg schools, and as a Pittsburg High graduate myself, I have a vested interest in education in Pittsburg. As a board member, I have focused on accountability in our schools, equity for all, and ensuring the safety of students and staff. As a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and an attorney, I have utilized my perseverance, empathy, analytical and negotiation skills to ensure all stakeholders are heard and that the board makes the best decisions for our students. As a result, student test scores have improved throughout the district, we have a more diverse staff, and students feel more seen and heard. However, there is more work to be done.
