Dan Helmer is the grandson of Holocaust survivors, the son of immigrants, a West Point graduate, Rhodes Scholar, and a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, he remains a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserve and helps run a small business that ensures veterans have access to high-quality healthcare. He lives with his with Karen, a public school teacher, and their two boys in Fairfax, VA.
After unseating a 17 year Republican incumbent in 2019, Dan was elected to the House of Delegates where he now serves as Delegate for the 10th District. As the Campaigns Chair for the House Democratic Caucus in 2023, Dan fought to retake the House majority, protect a woman’s right to choose, ensure access to affordable healthcare, reduce gun violence, and stop lenders from preying upon students and service members.
