Senator Craig Hickman of Winthrop is serving his second term in the Maine Senate during the 131st Legislature after serving four terms in the Maine House of Representatives.


An organic farmer, artist, entrepreneur, Senate Chair of the Committee on Government Oversight, Senate Chair of the Committee on Veterans and Legal Affairs, member of the Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee and the Senate Ethics Committee, and Senate Chair of the Cannabis Advisory Commission, Hickman is the co-author of the first-in-the nation Right to Food Constitutional Amendment and the Maine Food Sovereignty Act. He has also championed civil rights and human rights, child welfare reform, rural economic development, protecting markets for small farmers regarding hemp, dairy, fruits and vegetables, meat and poultry, and valued-added products, as well as ensuring that we steward our public lands and natural resources sustainably.


Senator Hickman is a statesman. His extraordinary leadership and integrity have been recognized by organizations across the country, including the Rodel Institute where he is a Rodel Fellow, Class of 2023.
