Senator Craig Hickman of Winthrop is serving his second term in the Maine Senate during the 131st Legislature after serving four terms in the Maine House of Representatives.
He serves Senate District 14, which includes Chelsea, East Winthrop, Farmingdale, Gardiner, Hallowell, Kents Hill, Manchester, Monmouth, North Monmouth, Pittston, Randolph, Readfield, South Gardiner, Wayne, West Gardiner, and Winthrop
An organic farmer, artist, entrepreneur, Senate Chair of the Committee on Government Oversight, Senate Chair of the Committee on Veterans and Legal Affairs, member of the Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee and the Senate Ethics Committee, and Senate Chair of the Cannabis Advisory Commission, Hickman is the co-author of the first-in-the nation Right to Food Constitutional Amendment and the Maine Food Sovereignty Act. He has also championed civil rights and human rights, child welfare reform, rural economic development, protecting markets for small farmers regarding hemp, dairy, fruits and vegetables, meat and poultry, and valued-added products, as well as ensuring that we steward our public lands and natural resources sustainably.
A lifelong advocate for individual rights and personal liberties, Hickman believes that we must come together to create equitable and just public policy that moves us to a place where all Maine people have the social and economic opportunity to be free.
