This week, Public Policy Polling released a survey that has Colorado Democrats down 7 percentage points in the race for the State House.
Help us put a stop to this right now.
Here’s the good news: we still have time to convince those undecided 17% of voters that Colorado works better when Democrats hold the gavel in the House of Representatives. But we are going to need your support to make sure that we keep the majority in the 2014 election.
If the GOP and their Tea Party allies take over the House of Representatives again, Colorado will move rapidly backwards. We know this, because it happened before.
We will see extremist legislation to outlaw common forms of birth control and ban all abortions, even in cases of rape and incest. A personhood bill actually passed the house in 2012 (thankfully, it was stopped by the Senate so it never became law).
We will see radical measures to relax gun safety regulations so that criminals and domestic violence abusers can have unrestricted access to weapons. We will see legislation to create special tax breaks for big business, big banks, and big oil that will hurt middle-class families and increase class sizes for Colorado’s kids.
We only lost the majority in 2010 by one seat, in an election that was decided by 221 votes. We can’t let that happen again. Can we count on you to contribute to the House Majority Project today to keep Democrats in the state house and continue building a better Colorado?
We can’t do this without you.
