The Washington Center for Technology Policy Inclusion

Please help us convene diverse stakeholders, educate policymakers, and engage with local communities to reclaim America's technological leadership.

Each year, the United States grows increasingly diverse. At the same time, misinformation proliferates and polarization intensifies. These forces, enabled by weak technology-related public policies, forestall the kind of radical change we need to see in our communities.

Consider these statistics:

  • Some 5 million children lack access to broadband at home, setting them even further behind.
  • Courts increasingly use biased algorithms that disproportionately keep Black defendants locked up before trial.
  • Some fifty-nine percent of Americans say they find it difficult to discern fact from fiction in news reports on outlets controlled by a handful of large corporations.
  • Both the technology sector and Congress make important decisions for us. Yet they refuse to hire and promote us in numbers that resemble the U.S. population.

These trends illustrate just a handful persistent, systemic structures that contradict our stated values of liberty and justice. Only a racially and ethnically inclusive public policy dialogue can change hearts and minds in a way that inspires us to put our principals ahead of polarization.

Please support our work to unite policymakers around shared, progressive values. Keep America on the forefront of justice and innovation.
