Hope for State Rep
Kara Hope is currently serving her third term in the state house. She has championed education, the environment, public safety and justice, fair elections, and government transparency. She currently serves as assistant majority floor leader, chair of the Criminal Justice committee, and vice chair of Ethics and Oversight. She also serves on the Judiciary committee and the Elections committee.
ICYMI: in 2022, Democrats earned a one-seat majority in the Michigan House, and they have already used their new power decisively by passing commonsense gun regulations, including background checks for all firearms purchases; safe storage requirements to keep guns away from kids; and "red-flag" laws to temporarily remove guns from those who pose a threat to themselves or others.
In just the first 100 days of the 2023-24 session, Kara Hope and the Dem majority have also restored workers' rights; put more money in the pockets of seniors and working families; removed antiquated abortion crimes from Michigan law; and finally extended state civil rights protections to Michigan's LGBTQ community.
