HRC Triangle North Carolina Candidates for Equality

Thank you for your support of local and national candidates in the 2020 elections, but two key races lie ahead. HRC-endorsed candidates Jon Ossoff (D) and Raphael Warnock (D) are advancing to run-off elections in Georgia on January 5, 2021 against Sens. David Purdue (R) and Kelly Loeffler (R). These key races could determine the control of the U.S. Senate.

“We need pro-equality champions like Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock to help usher in a pro-equality majority in the U.S. Senate,” said Human Rights Campaign President Alphonso David. “Both Ossoff and Warnock will prioritize the passage of the Equality Act if elected, and their historic races will be our highest priority in the coming weeks and months. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler are anti-LGBTQ extremists who will undermine the rights and well-being for all LGBTQ people.

  • In the November general, Jon Ossoff was just slightly behind Sen. Purdue, who always scores 0% on HRC's scorecard and opposes marriage equality
  • Civil Rights champion Raphael Warnock leads Martin Luther King’s former church and faces appointed Sen. Loeffler, who introduced legislation targeting transgender children

These races were very close on November 3 where no candidate got 50% of the vote. They will be key to the balance of power in the Senate. Please contribute to these critical races today!
