Donate to the Hurricane Helene Response Fund!

UPDATE: With Hurricane Milton bearing down on Florida we have expanded our fund to include this new storm. We've raised over $590,867 with a goal of raising $1 million.

Hurricane Helene has devastated communities in Florida, Georgia, Western North Carolina, and Eastern Tennessee. Catastrophic flooding has left thousands unhoused, and severe damage to mountain roads, highways, and bridges have left many stranded. Community organizations in the area are facing enormous challenges as they attempt to reach residents in rural areas who are without power or cell phone service. At the same time, local organizers are preparing for months and years of rebuilding and recovery, and are determined to center equity in a region that is marked by both the resilience of local people and a history of systemic poverty.

That’s why Organizing Resilience has already committed $110,000 to the organizing and mutual aid groups on the ground that are working around the clock focused on the following priorities:

  • Direct Relief and Mutual Aid: Supporting communities hardest hit by mobilizing grassroots efforts to meet basic needs such as food, shelter, and essential supplies, especially for those who couldn’t evacuate or prepare.
  • Economic Relief and Recovery: Advocating for support for small businesses and workers whose employment has been impacted; ensuring recovery jobs offer fair wages and decent working conditions to lift individuals out of crisis, not deepen it.
  • Accountability: Ensuring the recovery process doesn't displace or exploit vulnerable populations.
  • Push for Structural Change: Addressing systemic issues, such as the deregulation of power companies and lack of investment in a green economy, which have amplified the effects of previous disasters.
