Hudson Valley Votes 2020

Thank you for supporting Hudson Valley Votes!

100% Net Proceeds from our Hudson Valley Votes 2020 program will go to benefit Common Cause NY. We must ensure the fairness, accuracy, and security that befits our democracy. That’s why Common Cause is working to push solutions that protect our elections from foreign and domestic hacking and ensure votes are counted as cast.

The most effective solutions to improve the integrity of our elections are often simple and commonsense. They include:

  • Retire old and outdated voting machines, upgrade the technology we use, and move towards employing paper ballots in every state.
  • Require risk-limiting, post-election audits of ballots to confirm that reported election results are accurate.
  • Ensure paper back-ups of our voter registration databases and electronic voter rolls.
  • Eliminate the use of online voting. Ballots cast by email or through an internet portal are vulnerable to hacking.

Common Cause is working with election officials and administrators at the national, state, and local levels to implement these commonsense solutions to safeguard our elections.

We know that protecting our democracy is not a partisan issue — when a foreign government or anyone else tries to influence our elections, it weakens all of our votes and voices. Every eligible American wants to – and should – have a say in deciding which people and policies will determine the future for our families, community, and country.

At a time when far too many eligible voters are wrongly turned away from the polls – or simply don’t have access to them – we must rededicate ourselves to increasing participation among eligible voters.

Common Cause was founded in 1970 and the Common Cause Education Fund has a 4-star rating on Charity Navigator.
