THE IMMIGRANT DEFENSE FUND

Fighting Fear and Hate With Power

Donald Trump told us what he would do to immigrants if he won the election. Tens of millions of Americans embraced his cruel threats and have returned him to power.

Our job now is to protect immigrants, refugees and communities of color from the dangers ahead.

The National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) needs your help to support legal defense, community organizing and public advocacy for the many millions of families who will be the targets of the incoming administration.

Trump and his immigration adviser Stephen Miller were utterly clear and consistent about the anti-immigrant campaign they planned. They and other Republicans spread disgraceful and shameless lies about immigrants. They stoked fear and hate with promises of mass arrests and deportations, dehumanizing rhetoric and scapegoating, and threats and acts of brutality and violence.

And now they have the tools to carry it out.

Trump and his supporters want us to feel helpless and afraid. They want us to feel that it is useless to resist their authoritarian project.

But resist we will, starting now and ending never. We have power when we are organized and amplify our voices against hate, fear and division.

Standing in Trump's way are millions of people who are uniting and organizing to defend their families and the U.S. Constitution. Trump has much of Congress, the courts, and the entire Republican Party. We have the people.

Through the Immigrant Defense Fund, NDLON will summon individuals, lawyers, advocates and artists to the job of shielding immigrants from unjust arrest and deportation, from labor abuses and discrimination and other forms of oppression. We will help local communities and neighorhoods build webs of mutal support. We will support litigation and legal defense, raise immigrants' profiles and press the urgency of rescuing America's professed ideals — inclusion, tolerance, democracy — from this path of self-destruction.

Right now, NDLON and our member organizations are organizing 50 local asambleas – community assemblies – in cities and towns around the country. Migrants and refugees are gathering to build strength and solidarity. Asambleas create the mutual support and self-defense strategies that we need to build — starting today.

Please make your pledge today. Solo el pueblo salva al pueblo. Only the people save the people.
