Gene Roddenberry was a Social Justice Warrior. Through the use of creative storytelling in the science fiction genre, he endeavored to portray a future where race, religion, sexual orientation, or color were constructs of a primitive past.
We have a long way to go but, together we can begin to tear down this old foundation of social injustice, inequality, and systemic racism. Together, we can begin to lay the first bricks towards an inclusive future -- a future much like we see in Star Trek.
