The North Carolina GOP just staged a coup -- can you help?

Goal thermometer

Last November, incumbent Republican Governor Pat McCrory was narrowly -- but indisputably, after a recount -- defeated by Democrat Roy Cooper.

Earlier this week, leaders in the State Senate called a special session of the GOP-controlled legislature to order to handle a disaster relief measure. But then Republican leadership gaveled in a second surprise session in order to pass a full slate of bills stripping the incoming Democratic governor of power and giving Republicans in the legislature and the courts more control.

Among other things, the legislation passed by the GOP would slash the number of political appointees the Governor is responsible for by 80%, and it would remove state and county elections boards from majority party control, allowing the GOP to continue to wreak havoc with voting rights.

This move by the GOP is blatantly anti-democratic and it cannot be allowed to stand. Ignite NC and others are on the front lines of this battle and we need our support right now.

Can you chip in $3 or more to support Ignite NC at this critical moment?
